Departure from the parking lot by Ögurnes and hiking upp Ögurháls to the mountain above Ögur. On our way we pass three cairns, the last one called Gvendar-altar, named after Guðmundur the good, a bishop who blessed various parts of Iceland in his time. It is customary to throw three stones at the altar. From this point there is a great view over Ísafjarðardjúp.
At the top of the mountain there is a cairn which is a part of the old giant sunwatch of Ögurvík and it shows when the time is 6PM. Inside the cairn you will find a guestbook where hikers can sign their names. From the cairn we hike back to Ögur.
From Ögur travellers can either walk back or be transferred to their cars in Ögurnes.
