Mountain passage, hiking

Geldingaskarð is a pass in mountain Skarðsfjall which rises up from Skarðsströnd alongside Viguráll.
Seamen used to call it Ögurskarð and prior to accurate location devices it was used as a landmark for the fishing grounds out in Ísafjarðardjúp.

We start in Ögur and walk up to Ögurháls pass Gvendar-altar and by Langihjalli beneath the steep Skarðsfjall. Beneath Geldingarskarð we cross a landslide in the pass as we climb up the mountain enjoying a spectacular view. From the pass we cross over to Ögurdalur from where we head back to Ögur.

This trip is not reccomended for those who suffeer vertigo, are afraid of heights.

Duration aprox. 6 hours. Price is 15.000 ISK per person. Free for 15 years old and under.
